How to transfer your Mattermost content¶
The New Helmholtz Matrix Service and this Documentation Are in a Ramp-up Phase
We plan to offer Helmholtz Matrix from April 2026.
- Please contact us if you encounter any errors.
- Helmholtz members are also invited to give us some structured feedback here.
- From time to time, you may see a red “Offline” notification message. This is because during ramp-up phase of the service, we may need to deploy changes to the server without prior announcement. Don’t reload, your messages will be sent with few seconds delay.

Teams and Channels¶
We provide some hints here on how to migrate your groups from Mattermost to the new Helmholtz Matrix.
1. Create a New Space (Mattermost Wording: Team)¶

- Make sure the room setting is Ask to join.
3. Invite Your Users¶
4. Close Down Your Mattermost Channel¶
Once you are sure that all people moved, archive Mattermost Channel:
- choose Mattermost Channel
- click on the Name of the Channel in the Header
- Choose Archive Channel: You can search and open archived channels but cannot enter new chats.
Mattermost Boards¶
Matrix does not include a board feature. So, you have to move to another service. Helmholtz Cloud offers two services with kanban board features:
