Mattermost Archiver Plugin¶

The newly activated Mattermost plugin lets you export messages into a ZIP file.

Export of teams and channels is only available for team and channel admins. Direct and group messages can be exported by people involved in the conversation. Treat exported ZIPs as sensitive data, they may contain confidential messages, files and privacy related information.

Teams and Channels¶

We provide some hints here on how to migrate your groups from Mattermost to the new Helmholtz Matrix.

1. Create a New Space (Mattermost Wording: Team)¶

2. Create a New Room (Mattermost Wording: Channels)¶

See here how to create a matrix room.
Make sure the room setting is Ask to join or invite users via the experimental “invite link” workflow.

3. Invite Your Users¶

See here how to invite users, depending on whether you already know their matrix IDs.

4. Close Down Your Mattermost Channel¶

Once you are sure that all people moved, archive Mattermost Channel:

choose Mattermost Channel
click on the Name of the Channel in the Header
Choose Archive Channel: You can search and open archived channels but cannot enter new chats.

Mattermost Boards¶

Matrix does not include a board feature. So, you have to move to another service. Helmholtz Cloud offers two services with kanban board features:
