NovaCrate: New Metadata Service in Helmholtz Cloud

NovaCrate: A New Helmholtz Cloud Service for FAIR Research Data

With NovaCrate a new service is now available through the Helmholtz Cloud. NovaCrate brings a powerful, browser-based toolkit to the scientific community for creating, editing, and exploring Research Object Crates (RO-Crates) — a modern approach to keeping research data FAIR, transparent, and reusable.

Browser-Based Workspace for Creating and Exploring RO-Crates

RO-Crates provide a standardized, self-describing way to package research data alongside rich metadata. They make scientific work Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable — the FAIR principles that are essential for collaborating across research fields, infrastructures, and institutions. But FAIRness is only as strong as the tools that support it.

That’s where NovaCrate comes in. Discover a web-based, fully-featured, interactive editor for creating, editing and visualizing research object crates. Built for inspecting, validating, and manipulating RO-Crates, it allows to get a deeper understanding of an RO-Crate’s content and structure easily.

HMC, HIFIS and Data Science Platforms - A Strong Alliance

With NovaCrate, the Helmholtz Cloud ecosystem expands its portfolio of high-quality, community-driven research services, designed to support FAIR data practices. The service is developed within the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC), currently carried out by FAIR Data Commons at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). HIFIS and HMC are strong partners united by the goal of providing scientists at Helmholtz with excellent services. Together with three sister platforms Helmholtz AI, Helmholtz Imaging, and HIDA, they offer a comprehensive range of services covering all aspects of data science.
